Student job at Bioclimatology Dep.

We are looking for a student assistant for participation in sampling campaigns and lab work

 

In the Bioclimatology Group (Department of Forest Science and Forest Ecology), we are looking for a student assistant for working in a current research project. The project deals with analyzing exchange processes between a forest ecosystem and the atmosphere by using stable isotopes in water and CO2.

 

Tasks

– Participation in field trips (duration: 1 day), that are taking place every other week – the field site is close to Leinefelde in Thuringia.

During the field trips we will collect soil, precipitation, twig and leaf samples.

– Participation in three intensive sampling campaigns with overnight stay in Leinefelde in the month June, August and October 2015

– Extraction of samples on vacuum line and preparation of the samples for isotope analysis (using IRMS and/or CRD spectroscopy)

 

Requirements

– independent, reliable and careful work

– time flexibility

– Driving license class B

– Experience with sampling campaigns and knowledge of stable isotope analysis advantageous

 

The working time will be app. 50-60 h/month

 

If you are interested in writing a master thesis at the bioclimatology group, you could use the data collected during the sampling campaigns for your master thesis.
